Principal's Welcome
Hello and welcome to our school.
Cheltenham Girls’ High School is an exciting place to learn!
It was established as a local comprehensive high school in 1957. The school is located on the magnificent former residential estate of the Vicars family, a family linked to the early history of Parramatta.
Cheltenham Girls' High School is committed to providing a variety of quality learning experiences in a caring, cooperative, and challenging environment.
We strive to develop self-awareness, self-esteem, and confidence. We promote positive, collaborative relationships with each other and the community, built on respect and concern for others.
We encourage creative and critical thinking and support personal excellence and satisfaction. We increase life's opportunities and foster lifelong learning.
The school enjoys strong, positive community relations with our Parents and Citizens Association and the Cheltenham Old Girls’ Association (COGA) with programs and initiatives that focus on providing students with the necessary skills and confidence to make a significant contribution to the broader community both at school and post school.
The school has strong wellbeing processes, and programs seek to ensure every student is known, valued, and cared for. Student leadership has a strong focus with Prefects, Student Representative Council, Social Justice Group, the Green Team, Cloud 9 (raising understanding and awareness of adolescent mental health issues), and junior and senior Sports House Captains.
The school offers a broad curriculum and includes academic, creative and sporting courses and opportunities as well as accelerated courses in some subjects and a High Potential Gifted Education class in Year 7, from 2024. We celebrate strong NAPLAN results, achieving above state average and we continue to focus on literacy and numeracy improvements. The HSC results continue to see the school recognised as a top comprehensive school in NSW. Current initiatives are also focused on further lifting HSC results.
Our highly experienced staff are committed to planned professional learning and the implementation of evidence-based teaching practices that support and drive continuous whole school improvement.
Our current student leaders support enthusiastic student voice and promote articulate, autonomous, authentic learners with a positive outlook for the future. Our motto ‘Truth, Unity and Concord’ has spanned the years and continues to underpin the strong spirit and pride we have in our school.
We are PINK, PROUD and PUBLIC.
